Michael Csányi-Wills's score for The King of Nerac is released through MovieScore Media. The documentary is a biography of David Breuer-Weil, the reclusive artist who went into self-imposed exile much like a modern day Gauguin. Both a successful art dealer and artist, Breuer-Weil creates giant apocalyptic canvasses and colossal sculptures and installments that dominate public squares everywhere from London to Jerusalem... Michael Csányi-Wills's score for The King of Nerac is a subtle, beautifully executed score. If I had one slight complaint, the score does rather heavily rely on one main theme to carry the rest of the tracks. There's only so many ways you can dress us the same piece of music, no matter how beautiful it is, before people really notice that there's little else of substance here. The theme reminded me, very slightly, of Carter Burwell's music for Being John Malkovich. In addition 'Leaving for Denmark' brought to mind James Horner's soundtrack for Cocoon. Thankfully there are other, more subtle scores (most notably in 'Neracian Dances') but even then, the movie's dominant theme muscles in on the action. But then it's hard to complain too much, when that single theme is so intricately beautiful. The score contains 17 tracks (47 min, 40 sec). 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
