The latest release from MovieScore Media is a short but tender and emotionally charged score from David Newman. Directed by Richard Loncraine, 5 Flights Up stars Morgan Freeman and Diane Keaton as a long-time married couple who've spent their lives together in the same New York apartment. Due to the titular five flights of stairs, they decide to sell their home in Brooklyn and look for something less taxing on their health, but they eventually become overwhelmed by personal and real estate-related issues when they plan to move away... David Newman's score for 5 Flights Up is a light, fluffy affair. It's perfect for the film and also works as a standalone collection of soft, upbeat themes. While it's not the sort of score I'd personally listen to, as a rule, it's just this side of twee to allow you to put it on in the background. The album is mainly made up of sweet, background themes. However, I wasn't overly struck by Max Calo's cheesy jazz-based Christmas theme 'I Was Younger'. However he more than makes up for this with the closing song 'Ritrovarsi'. The soundtrack contains 14 tracks (29 sec, 48 min) and while it's not an essential purchase, if you enjoyed the movie, then this will act as a sweet souvenir. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
