Varèse Sarabande release Joseph LoDuca's score for the television series The Librarians. The show is a fantasy/adventure series that was created out of the success of three Librarian telefilms. This new series centres on an ancient organization hidden beneath the Metropolitan Public Library dedicated to protecting an unknowing world from the secret, magical reality hidden all around. This group solves impossible mysteries, fights supernatural threats and recovers powerful artifacts, including the Ark of the Covenant, the Spear of Destiny and Excalibur... Joseph LoDuca really does pull out all of the stops to deliver an intricate and exciting '80s action/adventure movie score for this TV series. It's a cross between the best of John Williams and James Horner's work. The score opens with the memorable theme 'The Promise of Action' and it never lets up. This is one soundtrack that delivers so many beautiful themes that it's hard to know where to start singing its praises. The album contains 25 tracks (1 hr, 01 min, 53 sec) and ff I had to choose moments, I'd have to give special mention to 'Cassandra's Theme', which reminded me of Trevor Jones's score for The Dark Crystal (1982) and 'Country Ninja Fight'. I could probably have done without the vocal tracks 'Star Light, Star Bright' (which is a little too twee) and 'Little Girls' (which is intentionally awful). Those that grew up on John Williams's music in the '80s will get a huge kick out of this, as will fans of the show. 9 Darren Rea Buy this item online
