Latvian indie pop teenagers Carnival Youth release their debut album No Clouds Allowed. The album contains all five tracks ('Octopus'; 'Brown Eyes and All the Rest'; 'Seasons'; 'Words Like Birds'; 'Never Had Enough') that were on 2014's Never Had Enough EP, along with another six songs - the 11 tracks coming in at 40 min, 17 sec. Their next single to be released, 'Traffic Lights', is also included... although it was slightly spoiled for me by the fact that it started a little like the spoof 'Traffic Lights' song on the Monty Python's Contractual Obligation Album. However, once I'd gotten over that bit of nonsense, it was actually an enjoyable track. It's weird, however, how the songs from the Never Had Enough EP were instantly recognisable, despite the fact I hadn't heard them for a year. 'Moonboy' is probably the strongest new track, and wouldn't have sounded out of place on a Gorillaz album. Overall, this is a memorable, and upbeat album that's well worth picking up. 9 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
