Fred Abbott releases his debut solo album, Serious Poke. The London-based musician, until now best known as lead guitarist and keyboard player in the recently disbanded Noah and the Whale. Abbott enlisted the help of his Noah and the Whale compadres and other friends for the recording of this album... Serious Poke is an impressive indie rock album from Noah and the Whale's Fred Abbott. Over the course of this album's 10 songs (36 min, 44 sec) Abbott delivers perfection after perfection, with each track easily strong enough to be a single in its own right. From the rock anthem based opener 'Adrenaline Shot', to the chilled out closer, 'Lucky People', Serious Poke hardly give you chance to catch your breath. It's difficult to pick favourites here - every track is perfect in its own right. Although I will give a mention to 'Honey' which could easily have been a John Cale single. If you're an indie rock fan, then you should pick this up. You will not regret it. 10 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
