Lakeshore Records release the soundtrack to Animals. The film follows Bobbie and Jude, a young couple living in their broken-down car parked alongside Chicago's Lincoln Park Zoo. Their days are a continuous ritual of theft and scoring until they must confront the difficult truth of their relationship after one of them is hospitalised...

The soundtrack to Animals contains 19 tracks (47 min, 51 sec). Of these, 10 (15 min, 46 sec) are made up of Ian Hultquist's score, while the other 9 (32 min, 05 sec) are made up of various artists tracks.

This is another score that's difficult to review, because the music no doubt adds much to the atmosphere of the movie, but sounds a little flat when listened to on its own merits.

Ian Hultquist does deliver a memorable theme which, although very subtle, is woven through some of the tracks. The various artists half of the album contains a little of this and a little of that.

Another album that may be welcomed by fans of the film, but will feel a little dry to everyone else.
