MovieScore Media release Nainita Desai and Malcolm Laws's score for The Confessions of Thomas Quick. The feature documentary explores the life of the person everyone thought was Sweden’s most enigmatic serial killer, Thomas Quick. Quick first confessed his crimes in a mental institution for the criminally insane and his testimonies helped in the closing of at least two unsolvable murders. His case took an unbelievable turn in 2008 when Quick withdrew all his confessions, some of his victims turned up alive and a murder he was linked to resulted in a DNA mismatch. BAFTA winning filmmaker Brian Hill, traces the birth of this most unusual individual, what made him confess these crimes and what made him change his mind... The soundtrack to The Confessions of Thomas Quick is as bizarre as the movie's main subject. The score's opening and closing tracks feature a song entitled 'The Loneliness Inside' which not only contains odd lyrics, given the film's subject matter, but actually feels more like the title song for a James Bond movie. It's an enjoyable score that contains 20 tracks (56 min, 13 sec) and is certainly a step up from the usual documentary soundtrack. There's plenty of odd little moments, like the quirky opening to 'Thomas in Lift'; and 'Bank Robbery'. Highlights include 'The Perfect Patient'; 'Requiem of a Murder'; 'Margit and Jenny'; and 'The Release'. While it's by no means an essential addition to your music collection, there are enough interesting themes here to make it worth at least checking out. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
