MovieScore Media released Stephen Warbeck's score from the French movie Je Te Survivrai (I’ll Bury You). The film centres on Joe, a forty-something property broker, who is at the top of his game when it comes to his job, but is a failure in all other aspects of life. He has a plan to expropriate an old lady, an idea which leads him down a pit where he could stop his victim’s water supply - the only problem is he can’t get back on the surface. What follows is a time of introspection dashed with dark humour as Joe finds himself at the low point of his life - quite literally... Stephen Warbeck’s score for Je Te Survivrai represents an eclectic mixture of Western-flavoured twang, laid back jazz and contemporary Euro-thriller scoring. Seems terrible when you describe it. But it sounds interesting when you actually listen to it. It's a very odd idea to fuse such diverse musical elements together... especially when you consider the movie's country of origin and genre. Warbeck pulls off quite a feat. 'The Depths' is this album's most beautiful track, with an impressive opening before moving onto more of a Western feel. 'Hunger and Hallucination' is also impressive, sounding a little Bernard Herrmann-esque. The album includes 10 tracks (23 min, 48 sec). And while it's rather short it's odd mix of styles make it worth checking out. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
