Canadian indie rock band Frog Eyes release their latest LP, Pickpocket's Locket, through Paper Bag Records. Although labelled as an indie rock band, there's a folk feel to the majority of the tracks on this album. Pickpocket's Locket contains 10 song (39 min, 30 sec) in Frog Eyes unique style. At times the lyrics border on pure poetry, set to ethereal tunes ('The Beat Is Down (Four Wretched Singers Beyond Any World That You Have Known)' been the most perfect example). Personal highlights include the memorable 'Joe with the Jam'; and 'Crystal Blip' (which almost sounds like it could have been an early Tori Amos song.) It's a fine album and definitely one for the list. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
