Joseph Conlan's score for The Callback Queen is released through MovieScore Media. Written and directed by Graham Cantwell, the film takes place in the cutthroat London film industry where vivacious actress Kate Loughlin is chasing her big break. Upon getting an audition to the Prince of Chaos, which promises to be a successful franchise, Kate goes the extra length to get the part. However, she soon has conflicted feelings when she realises that getting the job means she must get more involved with director Vincent Catalano. Add in the mix a rival starlet, two vulnerable young filmmakers and a casting agent to get a recipe for romance and hilarity... The score for The Callback Queen took me a little by surprise. I wasn't really expecting too much, to be honest, when I saw the number of tracks. But while this soundtrack is incredibly short - 9 tracks (17 min, 24 sec) - it manages to pack quite a lot of interesting themes and diverse sounds into its running time. There's modern, cheesy electric guitar based themes ('Leading Men'); reflective, mellow tracks ('Kate and Vincent'); and then there's arguably this album's most notable track 'The Kiss'. It's certainly a score worth picking up - especially if you're a fan of the film. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
