Varèse Sarabande release Jóhann Jóhannsson's score for Sicario. In Mexico, sicario means hitman. In the lawless border area stretching between the U.S. and Mexico, Kate, an idealistic FBI agent, is enlisted by an elite government task force official to aid in the escalating war against drugs. Led by an enigmatic consultant with a questionable past, the team sets out on a clandestine journey forcing Kate to question everything that she believes in order to survive... Jóhann Jóhannsson's score for Sicario is creepy and very atmospheric, but it's not really the sort of soundtrack that you can comfortably listen to outside of the movie. The album contains 18 tracks (54 min, 12 sec) and is mainly comprised of atmospheric background sounds. In truth it sounded to me like the score was composed separately of the movie with enough cues to allow the director to work the music into any scene. The album's closing track 'Alejandro's Song', is easily the most impressive part of the score... just don't listen to it alone, in the dark as it's as creepy as hell. This, for me, was not a pleasant listening experience. I understand that in the movie it will add a hell of a lot of atmosphere, but listened to on its own merits it's just a lot of ambient noise. 3 Darren Rea Buy this item online
