Anna 2.0 is the latest album from Italian violinist Anna Nash. This release is designed to act as a continuation of the project, started with the album Rondò (2014), to make accessible to as many as possible the beauty of the great lyrical melodies and Italian classics, whilst bringing them up to date of a modern audience with the addition of a little techno and a sprinking of hip-hop... Classical violin mixed with techno music... sounds like a recipe for disaster... But if you pick up this album may be in for a pleasant surprise. Anna 2.0 contains 9 songs (35 min, 12 sec) and represents a clashing of two very different worlds. The end result will illustrate to a younger, modern audience how cool classical music is; and to an older audience, how techno can be as uplifting and satisfying as classical music. The tracks incorporate a little familiar classical music. For example, 'O Sole Mio' reworks the original 'O Sole Mio' Neapolitan song (probably best known to the masses as the 'Just One Cornetto...' Cornetto advertisement song. In Nash's version we have electronically warped strings playing the familiar theme, with a little hip-hop over the top. The end result is surprisingly satisfying. This is an interesting album - the concept alone is worthy of your attention. Nash deserves recognition for what she has tried, and succeeded, to accomplish here. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
