Varèse Sarabande release the soundtrack for A Walk in the Woods. The album features the new songs 'The Birds Are Singing At Night' performed by Lord Huron and 'Dead End Street' performed by Blake Mills, with songs from Dwight Yoakam, Chatham County Line, Tim Grimm, and additional tracks from Lord Huron. The album also features two suites of the original score, composed by Nathan Larson... The soundtrack to A Walk in the Woods is a mix of score and songs - normally something that doesn't appeal to me. However, in this instance, the songs (mostly country and folk) are as integral to the flow and feel of the movie as the score is. This isn't a collection of pop songs trotted out to appease a young market, the tracks here fit together well as a collection in their own right and have a lot more substance to them then I was expecting. Of this album's 14 tracks (57 min, 17 sec) highlights include the memorable 'The Birds Are Singing At NIght'; the toe-tapping 'The Lake'; the atmospherically haunting ''Ends Of The Earth'; and 'She Lit A Fire'.
