Editors release their fifth studio album, In Dream. Recorded in Crear in the Western Highlands by the band, and mixed in London by Alan Moulder, In Dream is the second album to feature the 'new' line-up of the band with Justin Lockey and Elliott Williams firmly in place alongside founding members Tom Smith, Russell Leetch and Ed Lay... I have to admit that on the first listen through of In Dream, I really wasn't a fan. On the plus side, the lead singer on occasion sounded a little like A-Ha's Morten Harket. On the negative on occasion the singing was very slightly out of key - which really rubbed me up the wrong way. However, several listens later and it was slowly growing on me. And, after I put it aside for a week and picked it back up... we'll, I couldn't get enough. 'No Harm' is probably not the strongest start for this 10 track (51 min, 16 sec). Highlights, however, include 'Forgiveness' (which sounds like it belongs on a modern A-Ha album); 'Life Is A Fear'; 'At All Cost', which for some reason reminded me a little of 4 Non Blondes 'What's Up'; and the impressive closer, 'Marching Orders'. This is an enjoyable experimental pop album that's worth giving a listen. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
