Varèse Sarabande Records release Jeff Beal's score for the third season of House of Cards as a two CD collection. In season three, President Underwood fights to secure his legacy. Claire wants more than being the first lady. The biggest threat they face is contending with each other... Jeff Beal delivers another impressive collection of themes for House of Cards with this 33 track (1 hr, 34 min, 24 sec) 2-CD collection. While it feels very much a companion piece to the previous volume, there's not a whole lot of referenced material. In fact, apart from the obvious inclusion of the show's main theme, this is all new music. There are slight element of John Barry's music for the James Bond movies in 'We Were Equals', but otherwise there's very little to compare here with other composers styles, and for that Beal deserves recognition. He's just at ease writing the slow, moving classical segments as he is the more electronic based action adventure themes. And the flip between the two, on occasion, can be quite impressive. The ending of 'Not Coming To Iowa' couldn't be more diverse than what follows in 'More Human Now'. For fans of the show, this is an essential purchase. And for those that enjoy intricate scores, this is also worth checking out. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
