Lakeshore Records release Adam Robl and Shawn Sutta's score for Uncle John. John is a kindly, well-liked old man in a small rural town. John has just killed a man named Dutch. Dutch had done a lot of bad things to a lot of nice people. Nobody in town would think to implicate John - nobody but Danny, Dutch’s violent drunk of a brother. John's nephew Ben arrives from Chicago on an impromptu trip to his hometown as his uncle struggles to evade Danny's growing suspicions and looming threats. In this masterfully acted tale of small-town intrigue, one man's need for revenge may cost many more their lives... Adam Robl and Shawn Sutta score for Uncle John contains 15 tracks (32 min, 12 sec), The movie features two intersecting stories – a light romantic tale and a murder. The composers composed two distinct motifs to represent both storylines; the two slowly merging as the narrative progresses. From a technical point of view, this is a very effective way to help add an extra layer of suspense to the movie. Sadly, listened to in isolation it's nothing more than a slightly above average collection of atmospheric music set pieces. It's difficult to review this album fairly as the music is faultless for its intended medium, but when listened to outside that it falls a little flat. 6 Darren Rea Buy this item online
