Lakeshore Records release the soundtrack to Bone Tomahawk, composed by Jeff Herriott and S. Craig Zahler. When a group of cannibal savages kidnaps settlers from the small town of Bright Hope, an unlikely team of gunslingers, led by Sheriff Franklin Hunt, sets out to bring them home. But their enemy is more ruthless than anyone could have imagined, putting their mission – and survival itself – in serious jeopardy...

The score to Bone Tomahawk may take you a little by surprise. If you're expecting a cliched Western score, Jeff Herriott and S. Craig Zahler will blind side you. While it is, in the main, a collection of atmospheric tracks, it also represents a rather beautiful collection of minimalist themes.

There is one main, beautiful theme that weaves its way throughout the score, but it never really feels repetitive - which, considering the number of times it is used, it certainly should.

The odd approaching droning sound in 'In The Defile' and 'Den of Boar Tusks' is unsettling but rather effective. Likewise, the operatic-esque 'Four Doomed Men Ride Out' should seem out of place, but it doesn't and is quite a pleasant way to end the score.

The album contains 10 tracks (20 min, 06 sec). It's one of those soundtracks that you're going to love or hate. It's a strange fusion of opera, classical music and atmospheric ambient sound, but it works wonderfully.
