Bror Forsgren (The Lionheart Brothers, Jaga Jazzist, Silence The Foe) is making his solo debut at the age of 34. Narcissus is a grandiose and uncompromising piece of pop music... Narcissus is impressive for many reasons. Bror Forsgren is keen to experiment with genres and preconceived ideas of pigeonholing music. It opens with the sound of an orchestra warming up, which then leads into the opening track, 'Waiting for That Holy Music'. The orchestrations on the album are subtle, giving this album a timeless quality to it. The album contains 9 songs (45 min, 55 sec) of reflective, yet seemingly happy tracks. There's an enthusiasm that's hard not to get caught up in as these songs unfold. I listened to this album once and immediately was impressed by how upbeat and rosy everything sounded. I listened to it a few more times and put it to one side. Picking up a few days later and it was like visiting an old friend. I wasn't really aware of how much this songs had already lodged themselves in my subconscious. It took me a while, but I finally figured out who Bror Forsgren reminded me of. On occasion both his voice and musical style reminded me of Chicago. This is an enjoyable, hypnotic and fun album that is well worth spending some time with. 9 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
