Lakeshore Records release Pedro Bromfman's score for Deep Web. This documentary gives the inside story of the arrest of Ross William Ulbricht, the convicted 30-year-old entrepreneur accused of being 'Dread Pirate Roberts,' creator and operator of online black market Silk Road. The film explores how the brightest minds and thought leaders behind the Deep Web are now caught in the crosshairs of the battle for control of a future inextricably linked to technology, with our digital rights hanging in the balance... You shouldn't expect much, musically, from a documentary that explores the Dark Web. But what Pedro Bromfman turns in is certainly a little more than merely functional. 'Opening Credits' builds suspense quite nicely, and what follows for the rest of this score's 17 tracks (39 min, 35 sec) is more of the same. Atmospheric, it certainly is, but whether it's the sort of music you want to listen to for pleasure is another thing entirely. I have to take my hat of Bromfman for creating something which enriches what could have been a much drier movie. However, I can't help thinking this was never intended to work outside of the film, and perhaps we shouldn't be overly surprised that it doesn't. 6 Darren Rea Buy this item online
