Lakeshore Records releases the various artists soundtrack to Brooklyn. The album features recordings of Irish classics including 'My Wild Irish Rose', 'Castle Finn' and 'Boolavogue'. The film tells the profoundly moving story of Eilis Lacey, a young Irish immigrant navigating her way through 1950s Brooklyn. Lured by the promise of America, Eilis departs Ireland and the comfort of her mother’s home for the shores of New York City. The initial shackles of homesickness quickly diminish as a fresh romance sweeps Eilis into the intoxicating charm of love. But soon, her new vivacity is disrupted by her past, and Eilis must choose between two countries and the lives that exist within... This is the second soundtrack album from Lakeshore Records for the movie Brooklyn. The previous release incorporated Michael Brook's impressive score, whereas this release represents music from the time period, including traditional Irish music and '50s American music. If you're not a fan of traditional Irish music (and let's be honest, it's quite an acquired taste) then you'll find this album heavy going. Likewise, some of the '50s tracks are a little too twee for most. This is only really an album for those who fell in love with the movie and want a musical keepsake to listen to while they go about their chores.
