Lakeshore release the original soundtrack album to Don Verdean. The album features the original songs composed by Heavy Young Heathens, the film’s Leslie Bibb singing 'Pillar of Salt', with original score by Ilan Eshkeri. Hired by an ambitious small-town pastor to find sacred relics in the Holy Land, a self-proclaimed Biblical archaeologist comes up short and his attempt to cover up his failure fuels a comic conspiracy... The soundtrack to Don Verdean contains 14 tracks (39 min, 45 sec). Of this only 3 (7 min, 21 sec) are from Ilan Eshkeri score - which is a pity, as this is easily the most enjoyable music on the album. The remaining 11 tracks (32 min, 24 sec) is mainly made up of original songs by Heavy Young Heathens. While I have to admit that I wasn't a huge fan of this album, I have to take my hat off to the numerous musical styles that Heavy Young Heathens manage to cram in. They tackle heavy rock ('Crazy Life'); gospel folk ('The Light Within' and 'Old Time Religion'); '70's pop ('Sunset in Your Eyes'); '80s based foreign pop ('Ezeh Gever') ; country ('Hearts Like Ours'). It's an odd soundtrack, quirky, but ultimately not really an album I'd want to listen to very often.
