Lakeshore Records release two new volumes of music from the third and final season of the Gaumont Television and NBC television series Hannibal, composed by Brian Reitzell. The two volumes also contain the original songs, 'Love Crime' (from The Wrath of The Lamb), which features Siouxsie Sioux, and 'Snake Charmer', which features Marc Almond... For fans of Brian Reitzell's work on the previous seasons of Hannibal, this collection represents more of the same. Once again there are two album's for this season and the music is ordered chronologically. However, season three has two distinctly different tones - with Volume 1 highlighting the European side of the third season and Volume 2 covering 'The Red Dragon'. Listening to this season's music, I have to say that I'm starting to appreciate Reitzell's style more and more. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to recommend you rush out and buy this album. It's still very much an acquired taste and is rather uncomfortable to listen to outside of the TV show. However, I am beginning to savour the finer points of Reitzell's compositions; the many layers that he weaves together in order to create something out of what appears to be chaos. There's no argument that the music is one of the many elements that makes the show as creepy and entertaining as it is, but whether you can listen to this score outside of the show is debatable and certainly comes down to personal choice. This release contains 16 tracks (1 hr, 17 min, 45 sec) and includes 'Allelujah'; and 'Love Crime' from the episode The Wrath of the Lamb. I still don't really enjoy listening to this outside of the show, but it is growing on me. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
