Plaza Mayor Company Ltd release Minjung Lee Quartet's first album after ten years performing on the Parisian scene. Turquoise contains Lee's original compositions as well as two Korean traditional songs which were arranged in jazz. The album was inspired by the traditional rhythms during Lee's trip to Turkey and composed at Festival de Marciac... Minjung Lee Quartet's Turquoise is not an album for everyone. In fact, I'd argue that the band has created a niche that could well alienate the majority of the buying public. If you don't like Jazz, then step away... you won't enjoy this. But even if you are a fan of Jazz, you'll have to also enjoy Lounge music and be on board with a French take on the scene. Personally, I rather enjoyed it. But I can see a lot of people being turned off by the fact it sounds, on occasion, a little like the background music to the early Sims games (the lyrics on 'Chanson de Péniche' - "Bip Bop Da" - help to further strengthen this argument). Turquoise contains 8 songs (45 min, 54 sec) and if Lounge Jazz is your thing you should certainly give this a try. 7 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
