Milan Records release Cliff Martinez's score for The Knick: Season 2. Set in New York City in 1900, this drama series centres on the Knickerbocker Hospital and the groundbreaking surgeons, nurses and staff who push the boundaries of medicine in a time of astonishingly high mortality rates and zero antibiotics... For those who bought and enjoyed Cliff Martinez's score for season 1 of The Knick, his work on season 2 offers up more of the same. As such, my view hasn't changed. Again, this season represents quite an odd mix of music tracks, considering the show is set in 1900, with a retro '80s electro-pop vibe to it. Surprisingly it works incredibly well for the show but equally works as a novel, standalone score. If Jean Michel Jarre and Gershon Kingsley were to join forces tomorrow and come up with a modern electro pop album to support the show, they'd have a job coming up with anything better than this. It's probably not an album that you'll dig out all that often (you really have to be in the right mood for it) but when you do you'll enjoy what Martinez has cooked up. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
