Cheech & Chong's Next Movie (1980. 1 hr, 34 min, 30 sec) is a comedy film directed by Tommy Chong who co-wrote the script with his long time comedy partner, Cheech Marin. The pair had previously released Up in Smoke (1978). The plot of the film is one long running gag about the twos battles with their neighbour, their lack of a job and their desire to get high all of the time which culminates with Chong being abducted by aliens who give him ‘space coke’ the ultimate high, it’s a series of events, loosely strung together pieces, rather than a single coherent plot. Comedy being a more personal taste, it all depends on how much you like stoner jokes. Cheech and Chong continue with the personas which they had perfected on their LP comedy and the film is enlivened by the talents of Edie McClurg, Bob McClurg and with an early appearance of Pee-Wee Herman, Paul Reubens. The print on the Blu-ray has held up well, there is grain, but it’s not intrusive. The disc contains no extras. 6 Charles Packer Buy this item online
