Feed the Fire

Artist: Promise & the Monster
Label: Bela Union
RRP: £13.99
Release Date: 22 January 2016

Promise & the Monster's front woman, Billie Lindahl, harnesses the power of eerie dissonance with her voice, carrying not-so-subtly dark themes to the surface with strange beauty. The aim? To create an end result that is designed to combine the elegance of '60s recordings with a more mechanical and darker sound.

In constructing 'Time of the Season' the band's idea was to take the familiar sound of an ABBA song and put an '80s goth band twist on it. I think most will agree they've certainly managed to achieve that. It's this mixing of sixties/seventies-era pop with shadowy undertones that give the album its unique feel.

The album contains 10 songs (43 min) and if you're looking for something a little different, but with a base that you feel familiar with, Feed the Fire ticks all the right boxes.
