Varèse Sarabande release Lisa Gerrard and Marcello De Francisci's score for Jane Got a Gun. The movie centres on Jane Hammond, who has built a new life with her husband Bill "Ham" Hammond after being tormented by the ultra-violent Bishop Boys outlaw gang. She finds herself in the gang’s crosshairs once again when Ham stumbles home riddled with bullets after duelling with the Boys and their relentless mastermind Colin. With the vengeful crew hot on Ham's trail, Jane has nowhere to turn but to her former fiancé Dan Frost for help in defending her family against certain destruction. Haunted by old memories, Jane’s past meets the present in a heart-stopping battle for survival... Lisa Gerrard and Marcello De Francisci's score for Jane Got a Gun contains 24 tracks (57 min, 44 sec) of mainly background atmosphere music. It's interesting, but nothing too challenging. In fact, after a first listen through I couldn't really pick out any memorable segments of music and when I listened to it again I hadn't remembered any of it. This is the sort of score that sits quietly in the background to give the movie a little more atmosphere - it's hardly the kind of music that you'll get much out of listening to on its own merits. Sure, it's mellow and unobtrusive, so you can probably put it on in the background while you read, but it's certainly not a score that demands your attention. Even after listening to it half a dozen times over the space of a week I can't pick out any tracks that are noteworthy. It is enjoyable, just not something that you can get excited about. 6 Darren Rea Buy this item online
