British duo Balsamo Deighton release their debut album Unfolding. Steve Balsamo and Rosalie Deighton - both respected vocalists, musicians and songwriters in their own right – have joined forces to record a collection of songs on the human condition... On a couple of tracks Balsamo Deighton's new album Unfolding sounds like entries for the Eurovision Song Contest. That's not an insult. It's just that the songs are instantly accessible and, in most instances, light and fluffy. But that's only a small segment of the music on offer here. Not only are the songs diverse and instantly accessible, but the strange mix of two very different vocals melt together to give us something that is much greater than the sum of its parts. I actually enjoyed Unfolding a great deal. Of this album's 12 songs (45 min, 02 sec), personal highlights include the most Eurovision track on the LP. 'Drive On'; the catchy 'Blue'; 'These Four Walls' (which opens like Shed Seven's 'Going for Gold' and also reminded me of James Blunt's 'You're Beautiful'. It's a fun, upbeat album that will cheer you up no matter what your mood is. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
