Varèse Sarabande release Federico Jusid's score for Misconduct. The movie follows an ambitious lawyer who finds himself caught in a power struggle between a corrupt pharmaceutical executive and his firm's senior partner. When the case takes a deadly turn, he must race to uncover the truth before he loses everything... Just on the back of the synopsis above, Misconduct doesn't really really seem like the sort of movie I'd usually enjoy. Likewise, the scores that usually accompany these types of films are normally pretty formulaic. What composer Federico Jusid delivers for Misconduct is nothing short of a minor miracle - breaking the mould and delivering 25 tracks (1 hr, 05 min) of pure, melancholic bliss. This is a multi-layered score that sounds incredible the first time you hear it and just keeps on getting better the more times you hear it. Take 'Open The Door!' as an example. There is so much going on in this track that each time you play it you'll find another segment to fall in love with. Again, breaking with tradition, Jusid delivers a creepy, yet beautiful piece of music in 'How Far Are You Willing To Go', which really belongs at the heart of a horror movie. The start of 'You Think You Have The Complete Picture But You Don't' reminded me of a segment of music in 'Never Speak a Word of Her Fate' from Rob Simonsen's wonderful score for The Age of Adeline. 'At Least You Are Rich' is another wonderful track that is incredibly suspenseful, as is 'How I Built My Reputation'. And just to throw another in piece in to surprise us, Jusid delivers 'Amy's Chase' which is in a similar vein to Danny Elfman's score for Wanted. I could probably have done with out the two music tracks at the end - 'Lust', performed by Water Knot and the odd electronic ' Head Trip' by Lee Coombs - but I'm sure fans of the movie will get a kick out of them. Jusid delivers a more diverse and incredible score than you'll be expecting. This is certainly one for serious soundtrack fan's collections. 10 Darren Rea Buy this item online
