John Debney's score for The Young Messiah is released through Lakeshore Records. When the mystery of Jesus’s divinity begins to unfold in his early years, he turns to his parents for answers. But Mary and Joseph, in an effort to protect their child, are afraid to reveal all they know. How do you explain the ways of the world to its creator? How do you teach the teacher? How do you help the savior who came to save you? Follow the young Messiah as He and His family take the extraordinary journey from Egypt to Nazareth and on to Jerusalem – where His true identity and profound destiny are revealed... John Debney performs a small miracle with his epic score for The Young Messiah. The album contains 26 tracks (1 hr, 09 min, 42 sec). Throughout this score I kept feeling the spirit of James Horner (at his most melancholic - which for me was always when he was at his best); Hans Zimmer (especially his work on Gladiator) as well as Geoffrey Burgon's music for Monty Python's Life of Brian. There's even a hint of David Arnold's score for Stargate on the track 'Jesus Leaves Alone'. To illustrate, check out 'The Young Messiah Theme (feat Lisbeth Scott)' and 'Mary Reveals The Truth To Jesus / Jesus Talks To God' for a taste of Horner; 'Alexandria Egypt' for Zimmer-esque cues; and 'The Carved Camel', 'Reveal Of Nazareth' and 'Mary Presents Baby Jesus' for a taste of Burgon. Personal highlights include 'Alexandria Egypt'; 'The Messiah Will Save Us'; 'A Son Named Jesus'; and 'Mary Reveals The Truth To Jesus / Jesus Talks To God'. A beautiful score that will stir emotions in even the coldest of hearts. 10 Darren Rea Buy this item online
