Chapell (Alan Chapell) releases his new album The Redhead's Allegations. Alan recorded his first EP with legendary music producer Jimmy Ienner - who a few years earlier was producing albums for such artists as the Bay City Rollers and Three Dog Night and would soon go on to producing the soundtrack for the movie Dirty Dancing. After college, Chapell’s band All the Voices was making big waves from NYC to Maine. Regularly pulling crowds of 1,000 people and touring alongside Flock of Seagulls, 10,000 Maniacs, Crash Test Dummies and Echo and the Bunnymen... The Redhead's Allegations is produced by The Talking Heads's Jerry Harrison and Prairie Prince (Journey, The Cars) plays drums on each track. The album is an instantly accessible and likeable Indie Pop album which, for some reason, brought to mind the work of Phil Collins on several tracks (most notably 'The Game' and 'The Light'). The LP contains 11 songs (41 min, 04 sec) and as far as highlights go... this is an album that doesn't have a dull track on it. Sure, some are more enjoyable than others, but each is worthy of your time for different reasons and depending on what mood you're in. But if I had to chose a song to highlight, it would probably have to be the closing track 'The Light' - closely followed by 'Shayna' - which will rattle around in your head for days. And was that a homage to Deee-Lite's 'Groove Is In The Heart' I spotted at the opening of 'Seventeen'? This is a great, feel good album. Give Chapell a chance. You won't regret it. 10 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
