Moshi Moshi Records releases Meilyr Jones (formerly of Race Horses) new LP, 2013. The album contains the previously released singles 'How To Recognise A Work Of Art' and 'Refugees' - two singles that are poles apart and help to give you some idea of how diverse an artist Jones is... 2013 opens with easily this album's most easily accessible track, 'How to Recognise a Work of Art', an upbeat indie pop track that's hard not to warm to. The rest of the album allows Jones to explore different styles. This is both the album's strength and weakness, depending on your point of view. For those who don't like much variety there is probably too much of an overload of it here for you to feel comfortable. For the rest of us, this is a wonderfully diverse and engaging album that never stops shifting and mutating through out it's 12 tracks (49 min, 37 sec). I also could help, when listening to parts of 'Olivia', being reminded of Ooberman's 'Twinkling Aurora'. Overall, this is a strong and enjoyable album which will grow on you the more times you listen to it. 7 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
