Lakeshore Records release Giona Ostinelli's original score for Darling. The movie follows a lonely girl who moves into a mysterious Manhattan mansion. Hired as a caretaker, it’s not long before she discovers the estate’s haunted reputation. These stories slowly transform into a backdrop for her twisted and violent descent into madness... While Giona Ostinelli's score for Darling has its moments, on the whole it's a pretty cliched horror soundtrack. 'Darling' is a beautiful, eerie piano theme that I was hoping would be built upon for the rest of the score but, sadly, it quickly descends into a rather bland collection of horror set pieces. This is a shame, because over the course of this 30 tracks (1 hr, 01 min, 01 sec) there are segments that experiment with strange and interesting noises. 'Dragging The Body', for example, incorporates what sounds like water lapping in a metal tub or bowl. While I have absolutely no doubt that this music adds a whole extra layer of suspense for the movie, when listened to on its own merits it's interesting, but hardly something most will want to listen to more than once. 5 Darren Rea Buy this item online
