Lakeshore Records release Brian McOmber's score for Krisha. When Krisha shows up at her sister’s Texas home on Thanksgiving morning, her close and extended family greet her with a mixture of warmth and wariness. Almost immediately, a palpable unease permeates the air, one which only grows in force as Krisha gets to work cooking the turkey and trying to make up for lost time by catching up with her various relatives, chief among them her nephew, Trey. As Krisha's attempts at reconciliation become increasingly rebuffed, tension and suspicion reach their peak, with long-buried secrets and deep-seated resentments coming to the fore as everyone becomes immersed in an emotionally charged familial reckoning...

Listening to the soundtrack to Krisha was not a pleasant experience. Brian McOmber's score has been composed to reflect the central characters emotional state as the movie unfolds. And that's a clever tool, but I'm sure McOmber never intended for this to be released as a standalone score - it just doesn't work that way.

On occasion (actually on a lot of occasions) it sounds like a group of musicians have been locked in a room, each wearing earplugs so they can't hear what everyone else is playing, and asked to just randomly play something... but not a tune... more like warm up their instruments.

And then, lets say there is a portion of the film's audience that really did enjoy the music so much that they want to listen to it in isolation... that's ruined by the occasional dialogue track from the movie layered over it.

The album contains 12 tracks (33 min, 28 sec) and while technically this is flawless and works perfectly in the film, it sounds awful on its own merits. I won't be listening to it again.
