Lakeshore Records release Kevin Kiner's score Making a Murderer. Filmed over a 10-year period, the series is an unprecedented real-life thriller about a DNA exoneree who, while in the midst of exposing corruption in local law enforcement, finds himself the prime suspect in a grisly new crime. Set in America's heartland, the series takes viewers inside a high-stakes criminal case where reputation is everything and things are never as they appear... Kevin Kiner's score for Making a Murderer contains 42 tracks (1 hr, 04 min, 07 sec) and you'll probably be thinking (given the number of tracks) that this is an album heavy on music cues and low on integral themes. Surprisingly this is an album that's low on cues and actually has a number of interesting themes woven throughout the tracks. A lot of the tracks centre on a solo acoustic guitar, which makes for a chilled out listening experience. Personally, on balance, I found it a little too disjointed; like a collection of unrelated tracks were brought together for no obvious reason. Having said that, there's plenty of diversity here, it's just that the tracks just start getting interesting before we move on to the next one. 5 Darren Rea |
