Varèse Sarabande release the Of Mind and Music soundtrack. The album features the original music composed by Carlos José Alvarez, with songs ('Eye on the Sparrow', 'Avalon', 'Make Me A Pallet', 'Basin Street Blues’, 'After You’ve Gone') performed by Mykia Jovan and the classic hymn 'Will The Circle Be Unbroken' performed by Bill Cobbs. The movie follows a beautiful street musician suffering from memory loss and a disheartened neuroscientist intent on helping her, bringing together the city of New Orleans and the jazz that made it famous... Of Mind and Music is a very sweet, at times melancholic, score from Carlos José Alvarez. The album contains 29 tracks (58 min, 33 sec) and houses some truly heart breaking, beautiful themes. Personal highlights include 'Art Gallery'; 'Cornstalk Inn'; and 'Are You my Sister?'. I wasn't overly bothered about the vocal tracks - they're well written and beautifully performed, but I have to admit I would have preferred to have listened to more of Alvarez's score and the inclusion of the songs made for a bit of a distraction. Otherwise, this is a fine score, and certainly one that fans of the film will cherish. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
