Cross the Verge, just as its name promises, shows us another side of Joana Serrat, who enchanted audiences on her 2014 album Dear Great Canyon. On Cross the Verge, her third album, Serrat lays bare all the cracks, inconsistencies and fears that come with life, with the album revealing itself to be an especially beautiful tribute to the acknowledgment of loss and the acceptance of the uncertain... Of her three album's, I'd argue that Cross the Verge is Joana Serrat's most personal. The 13 songs (38 min, 44 sec) all give us a glimpse into her life and beliefs. It's an interesting LP with numerous standout moments. A cross between Country and Folk, Serrat has a knack for getting under your skin with her music. There's a timeless, almost ethereal edge to some of the tracks here and this is certainly an album that her fans will quickly embrace. Cross the Verge will rattle around in your head long after the music has stopped. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
