Sydney-based quartet Spookyland release their new album, Beauty Already Beautiful. It's an Indie LP with a lot of heart and plenty of soul. Whether you get on with the album will most likely come down to whether you can get on with Marcus Gordon's vocals. Out of tune, off key (listen to 'Turn' if you think I'm being a little cruel) it took me quite some time to warm to Gordon's voice. The music is beautifully subtle and I instantly became a fan of Spookyland's musical direction. Stick with Gordon's warblings, if you're not a fan at first, they're an integral part of the band's sound. The album contains 11 songs (45 min, 22 sec) and this is certainly an album that will grow on you the more times you listen to it. 'Nowhere Land' is probably the highlight here, being the most instantly accessible track. 7 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
