Lakeshore Records release John Swihart's score for A Light Beneath Their Feet. The movie focuses on a young mother with bipolar disorder struggling with the looming departure of her daughter, the one force of stability in her life. The daughter must struggle with the decision to stay local for college where she can remain the stable rock in her mother's life, or to detach and go to her dream college across country... John Swihart's score for A Light Beneath Their Feet opens on an upbeat note with 'Beth Sees', however, the next track is almost identical, housing the same theme, but presented slightly differently. The score contains 19 tracks (31 min, 27 sec). There's a theme that appears from time to time (most notably in 'Talking About Mom') that reminded me of Howard Shore's theme for the movie Dead Ringers. In addition 'Swingset' reminded me of Stephen Harwood's score for the 2005 console game Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30. It's an entertaining score, but it mostly comprised of music cues that don't actually go anywhere. While this isn't a bad thing, those wanting memorable or moving themes won't find much to get excited about. It's mainly a collection of sweet, slightly melancholic pieces. It's the sort of score you can put on in the background and let it wash over you. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
