Emilie Nana releases her new album, The Meeting Legacy, through Compost Records. The Geneva based, Lyon born, Cameroonian descendant has been immersed in this creative outpouring since 2012, the album slices together an eclectic selection, sharing much of who she is... The Meeting Legacy is a well polished, meticulously constructed album which showcases the numerous strings to Emilie Nana's bow. It contains 11 songs (1 hr, 05 min, 59 sec) of very diverse music. At its heart, this is a chill out album with a distinct '80s vibe. From the opening funky 'Off the Street' to the smooth closing 'Inward Path' this album never stops impressing. On occasion I caught the spirit of Prince running through this album (most notably on tracks like 'Music' and 'Nothing On Our Shoulders'). I couldn't help but be reminded of Harold Faltermeyer's 'Axel F' - the electronic instrumental theme from the 1984 film Beverly Hills Cop - when listening to 'Black Like Me'. 'Like You' is arguably this album's most mainstream track - a little bit of modern laid back Dance music. To be honest there isn't a poor song on the album. This is wall to wall Dance music that comes from the soul. 9 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
