Lakeshore Records release Johnny Klimek and Tom Tykwer's original score for A Hologram for the King. Cultures collide when an American businessman Alan Clay, is sent to Saudi Arabia to close what he hopes will be the deal of a lifetime. Baffled by local customs and stymied by an opaque bureaucracy, he eventually finds his footing with the help of a wise-cracking taxi driver Yousef and a beautiful Saudi doctor Zara... Johnny Klimek and Tom Tykwer deliver some incredible themes for the score for A Hologram for the King. The album contains 11 tracks (43 min, 38 sec) with the majority of the music being woven around the film's main theme. Normally scores that focus on one theme are a turn off for me. However, it works incredibly well here, as it's such a beautiful piece of music that changing it, even slightly, opens up a whole new world. Personal highlights include 'Mr.Clay' (which has arguably the most memorable working of the main theme); 'Zahra' (which houses the score's only other prominent theme); and 'A Hologram For The King-End Titles'. It's a beautiful little score, and one that is certainly worth checking out. 9 Darren Rea Buy this item online
