Last year's (2015) No Clouds Allowed showed what an impressive Indie Pop band Carnival Youth were. Their ability to write instantly accessible and catchy tunes was incredibly impressive. Propeller is a very different beast. On first play through I found nothing memorable or anything that caught my attention enough to warrant another play through. Where this album's strength lie is on its ability to reward those that put the effort in to get to know this release over time. It must have been around the fifth or sixth time of playing this that I started to really appreciate what it had to offer. Of the album's 11 tracks (39 min, 03 sec) 'Surf' stands out as the most catchy song. Those looking for more of the same will be disappointed, but those wanting the band to grow with them will be impressed at what Carnival Youth delivery here. 7 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
