Continuing the process of re-emergence that began with 2014’s Mi Senti EP and 2015’s critically acclaimed, Mercury Prize nominated album Hairless Toys, Take Her Up to Monto is an album that continues to see Róisín Murphy's musical transformation as she constantly matures as an artist. Murphy's vocals are something that always delight, and Take Her Up to Mono sees flights of disco fancy, dark cabaret, the sonorities of classic house and electronica, the joy and heartbreak of pure pop and torch song drama. The album contains 9 songs (47 min, 09 sec) and it's great to see that Murphy is never content to sit on her laurels. She could have carved out a niche for herself and sat their churning out album after album, but - as her fans will no doubt agree - she constantly delivers something new and up to date. That's not to say that this will age quickly - far from it. Like previous albums, this is a slice of Murphy's life and I'm very much looking forward to what she will deliver in the future. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
