The Mirror Trap is a 5-piece rock band from Dundee. After their album Stay Young was released on their own label in 2014 the band were spotted in their home town by Brian Molko of Placebo. His immediate connection to their anthemic, direct song writing led to a bizarre and wonderful opportunity for the band; they were invited to support the indie legends on a Trans-Siberian train tour of Russia, followed by the iTunes Festival (which was The Mirror Traps’s debut London show) and then Placebo’s UK tour in 2015. This brought them to a wider audience where their engaging stage show made many new fans... The Mirror Trap is fronted by Gary Moore, with Paul Markie, Paul Reilly, Ben Doherty and Mike McFarlane. At gigs they are joined by Scott Duffy on keys and percussion. Simulations has a distinct '90s feel to it. And in places there is a ring of Placebo to the tracks (most notably on 'Muscle Memory'). But it's not a rock album that sets out to be nostalgic in tone - it's a very modern release. It's just that on occasion it gives a nod and a wink to its inspirations. The LP contains 10 songs (33 min, 13 sec), with 'Joyride' being easily this album's strongest single. 7 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
