Warhaus is the artistic alter ego and solo recording project of Maarten Devoldere - who (along with Jinte Deprez) fronts the urbanely soulful Belgian rock band Balthazar. Warhaus’s debut album We Fucked A Flame Into Being (a direct quote from Lady Chatterley's Lover by DH Lawrence), represents a fitting title for an album where every song celebrates the inscrutability of encounters and pays tribute to the decadence and intensity that life can offer... We Fucked a Flame into Being's 10 songs (36 min, 24 sec) take us on a laid back musical journey with Warhaus. There's haunting songs like 'Memory' and 'Bruxelles' as well as more conventional indie fair ('Against the Rich', 'Time And Again'). In addition, it's hard not to be caught up in tracks like 'Machinery', which has a monotonous drone that will rattle around in your head for days to come. It's an interesting indie album that has plenty of tracks worthy of merit. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
