Lakeshore Records release Paul Haslinger's score for Halt and Catch Fire. The series captures the rise of the PC era in the early 1980s, focusing on four main characters attempting to innovate against the changing backdrop of technology and Texas’ Silicon Prairie... Paul Haslinger delivers a score that for me, being someone who was born in 1970, really does conjure up a nostalgic feeling of the '80s. I don't know why, because it doesn't particularly lean on any cliches from that era, I suppose that running through the music is a hint of emerging technological advancement, and in places it reminded me of the wonders of seeing the BBC Micro Model B room in my school, as well as spending many hours coding and playing on the ZX Spectrum. It's a subtle score, containing 23 tracks (38 min, 32 sec), which while offering no themes to grab onto, still provides a relaxing, and memorable, listening experience. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
