Italian guitar supremo Andrea Terrano releases his new album, Innamorata, through Basement Jaxx’s label Atlantic Jaxx. From the mysterious and evocative opener ‘Woodlands’, to the classical ‘Our Story’ (Andrea was a pupil of the great Honorary Academy Award winning soundtrack composer, Ennio Morricone) and the feel-good tequila swirling rumba of ‘Neptune’, Andrea shares with us his freedom of spirit, his love of the romantic and his fine guitar virtuosity...
Innamorata opens with the memorable 'Woodlands'. I say "memorable" because while I enjoyed it on the first play through, when I listened to the album for a second time, a few days later, I instantly recalled it but it sounded like a track I'd heard, but couldn't place, from years before. It's this ability to get inside your head that makes this album such a joy.
Over the course of this album's 11 tracks (37 min, 03 sec), personal highlights include the aforementioned 'Woodlands'; 'Our Story' (Ennio Morricone will no doubt be proud of this homage to his style); and 'Sugar Rush'.
This is an intricate, romantic and feel good album which touches on the genres of Latin, Italian classical soundtrack and ambient.
