Plaza Mayor Company Ltd release Phil Mossman's score for Emelie. There's no arguing that this is a creepy, eerie, unsettling soundtrack, which to be quite honest would turn any movie into a horror film. Technically I loved it. It's perfect and Mossman deserves an Oscar for just how warped and twisted a collection of tracks he delivers. But this plus point is also its major stumbling block as a stand alone project. This was never designed to be listened to in isolation and it does not make for a pleasant experience. Yes, it creeped the hell out of me, but it's not the sort of music you should listen to outside the film - unless you're planning on becoming a serial killer, communicating with the dead or attempting to release Satan from his earthly prison. Of this album's 25 tracks (51 min, 21 sec) there is much to admire ('You Found Me' and the upsettingly eerie 'Snake and Mouse') but there's sadly very little that you'd want to listen to repeatedly for entertainment, other than 'Emelie Opening Theme' and 'Emelie End Theme', both of which are variations on a theme, not to mention rather beautiful. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
