Swiss composer Georges Raillard delivers 12 solo classical guitar compositions (1 hr, 13 min, 20 sec) on Butterflies in the Labyrinth of Silence, all performed by renowned guitarist David William Ross. A lot of thought and attention to detail has been lovingly poured into this album, which is about as diverse as it's possible to be with a single stringed instrument. Various playing methods - including fingerpicking, long ringing strums, single note melodies, and sustained pedal points - help to make this a multi-layered listening experience. It's hard to pick a favourite amongst this album, mainly because the tracks compliment one another, but if I were forced to chose, I'd have to highlight 'Measuring Clouds' for it's mellow, almost tranquil vibe. It's an incredibly entertaining classical album. 9 Darren Rea Buy this item online
