Plaza Mayor Company release Liu Ye's score for Pioneer. Now I have to be honest here and confess that I've no idea what the movie's about. The press release only gave a hint at what the film covered and a quick Google search turned up very little. But do you know what, in this instance it doesn't matter in the slightest. If you're a fan of the film then you'll want to buy this score and if, like me, you've never seen the film then you'll embrace this as an emotional collection of melancholic, heart-wrenchingly beautiful themes. The album contains 22 tracks (1 hr, 12 min, 02 sec) and is so varied that you'll be unsure of whether you're listening to the score for an epic sci-fi movie or a western (both of which are echoed in the track 'The Beautiful Future') nor will you be able to fathom if the music is for a historical drama or a modern day suspense film. Liu Ye tackles so many genres and incorporates so many varied themes that you'll spend an age unpicking them and trying to work out which is your favourite track. It's an incredibly rich listening experience and one that's well worth investing in. 10 Darren Rea Buy this item online
